Belvoir Castle & Stamford, UK

After eating a very elegant continental breakfast at the Belton Woods resort, we took a short bus ride to ASDA grocery store, a European chain owned by Wal-Mart, located in Grantham. The manger of the store showed us around the store and answered questions about similarities and differences between Wal-Mart and ASDA.

Then we hopped back on the bus and headed to Belvior Castle. The hour bus ride to the castle showed some of the great natural scenery that England had to offer. Our bus driver did a really great job pointing out some of the sights to see on the way. The castle was built on the highest point in the middle of a grand estate owned by the Duke and Duchess of the area. The views were spectacular and we also had the opportunity to see the luxurious and well-preserved rooms of the castle. We also took time to pass through the royal gardens and watch folk performances that mimicked those done during the past.

After leaving the royal estate we headed to a small tourist town called Stamford. We were given the opportunity to explore the city and view some architecture that dated back to the 16th century. Some of us made use of the time by getting some needed shopping done for our loved ones back home. A few shops were open and there was a market going on in the main square. The time passed so fast, and in what seemed like no time at all we were ready to get back on the bus.

Since not many businesses are open on Sunday we had a couple hours during the late afternoon to debrief and enjoy the facilities of the hotel, such as the pool, gym, and free wireless Internet access. In the evening we all enjoyed meeting and mingling with executives of the OSI Group over an exquisite 3-course meal. The representatives of the large poultry company gave a brief overview of the company and generously answered questions. Tomorrow we will all have the opportunity to meet them again, and take a tour the OSI Group production plants.
