First Day in Belgium
We left Champaign at 7:15 on Saturday morning. On the bus everyone was still awake for the
most part. We arrived at Chicago at
about 10 in the morning and met up with some others in our group. They opened a side gate for us to go through
with our group so that we could get through faster. Jessi and Karlie made it through security
first and waited for the group at terminal C10.
We all waited anxiously for them to call us to board; finally they did
and we boarded the plane to Washington D.C. at 1:10 which took about an hour
and a half. The plane was a large Boeing
777 which had two seats, an aisle, five seats, an aisle and then finally two
more seats. We watched the map on the
back of the seats in front of us to see where we were at.
We arrived at Washington and had about forty minutes to walk
around and get something to eat. The layover went pretty fast, and we boarded
the plane at 5:15 to get going on the 7
and half hour plane ride to Brussels. We
all tried to sleep so it would go faster, but it proved very hard to sleep for
seven hours at four in the afternoon!
Luckily though, there were good movies being played on the
way (The Bucket List, Charlie Wilson’s War, P.S. I Love You, and many others to
choose from). The time passed pretty
quickly between the little naps and movies, and before we knew it, we had
arrived at Brussels Airport and finally stepped onto European soil.
We finally began our long-awaited trip!!
