A Day to Relax
Sunday, May 21, 2006
Hello again! Our group had a good time in Antwerp last night. All of the
stores close around 6PM, and we didn’t get a chance to get a Belgium
waffle. Most of us went to see either the DaVinci Code or V for
Vendetta in the middle of downtown Antwerp.
Today was mainly a driving and tourist day. We boarded the bus after
breakfast and drove for a couple of hours to The National War and
Resistance Museum near Overloon, Netherlands. The museum is located in
a park with three outbuildings and situated on the location of the
Battle of Overloon, which took place in 1944. The entire museum shows
the onset, course, and consequences of World War II. The group spent
several hours roaming through the museum looking at Holocaust pictures,
army documents, and firearms. Another part of the self-guided tour
included The Marshall Museum. It held hundreds of army tankers,
tractors, and jeeps ranging from the 1930’s up until the Vietnam War.
After a quick lunch at the museum’s café, we traveled to our resort
hotel for the night.
At the hotel that night, some of the team members had the opportunity to
go out on the lake in a boat for a few hours. All who participated in
that had a great time. Also, the team all went to dinner together
before a relaxing evening of card games and ping-pong. We’re really
enjoying our time in the Netherlands!
