Hello world, reporting back from the chocolate group!

Today we began our first full day in Leiden, Netherlands. After a very early 7:00 am start and a quick breakfast, we hopped on the bus for a 27km ride to the Flora Holland Flower Auction Aalsmeer. Because Holland is the most densely populated European country, beating traffic can be a little rough; however, today luck was on our side, and our bus driver Hugo managed to get us to the auction in a short 40 minutes.

Nuggets and Buns..... Oh What a Day!!!

What is always sure to bring a smile to a child's face? A Happy Meal from McDonald's!
Today we experienced the production of some of the key components of Happy
Meals--Chicken McNuggets--and other McDonald's favorites at the McDonald's Food
Town, in Duisburg, Germany hosted by Esca Food Solutions.

We began our day with a continental breakfast at the Landhause Misler Hotel, and were
ready to embark on our journey by 9:00.

Looking Towards a Better Future

We started off the day with a very lovely continental
breakfast at the Guennewig Hotel in Bonn, Germany. After breakfast we loaded the bus and headed for the office of the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movement,

Monday in Mannheim: BASF and John Deere

We kicked off the day with a grand breakfast of eggs, sausage, fruit, and rolls in the dining room at the Holiday Inn City Center in Mannheim, Germany. Once
everyone had finished, we packed up our luggage and embarked on the short drive
to BASF's agricultural campus at Limberghof, Germany around 8:30 am. The
beautifully kept lawns and blossoming flowers greeted us as we entered the

Thoughts on Brats...

Students pose upon the castle top.

We finally got to sleep in this morning, which was much needed. We then enjoyed a big
breakfast before heading for Heidelberg. Our bus driver, Hugo, never ceases to amaze us with his bus maneuvering abilities. Mannheim is not made for buses. We finally squeezed our way through the city's streets while Hugo was met with a huge round of applause and were on our way to Heidelberg for a day of sight seeing.

Hopping down to France for Winey afternoon

Our earliest morning yet, we packed our bags and headed out
of the Irish College in Leuven at 7:20a.m. As Hugo drove us toward Strasbourg,
France, everyone finally had the opportunity to re-charge. While we stopped for
our trusty bus driver Hugo to take a needed rest after driving tirelessly for
hours, the group overtook a gas station that seemed more like an airport
terminal. We discovered the biggest bathroom in all of Europe and ate everything

If It's Thursday, It Must Be Brugge

The sound of bagpipes, the smell of warm waffles, the feel
of cobblestones underneath our feet, the taste of chocolate and the real feel
of European culture awaited us as we traveled to Brugge today. Ascension Day
offered the perfect opportunity for us to take a break from our normal
business-focused routine and instead enjoy a more cultural experience.

Cheese, Chocolate, and Copious amounts of Coffee

We started off the morning early again for another great day in Belgium. As the bus started to pull away we realized that two of our colleagues were still in bed.  Unfortunately they had not quite adjusted to the Belgian time zone. Do not fret they did catch up with us after a 35 Euro train and taxi ride.

"A Whole New World"

Recent downpours in Central Illinois didn't prevent the IBIP class of 2009 from departing the ACES Library on time -- at 4:00pm sharp we piled on the U of I bus and took off for O'Hare International Airport in Chicago, Illinois. After getting boarding passes we headed through security. ALMOST everyone made it through -- Mr.
