INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS IMMERSION PROGRAM
Since its beginnings in the spring of 2000 the International Business Immersion
Program (IBIP) has involved into one of the country’s leading industry-led
project-based experiential learning programs in international business.The program is housed in the College of Agriculture, Consumer and Environmental Sciences, but is cross-listed in the College of Business Adminstration and works closely with many of the Title VI Cultural Centers as well as CIBER, Center for International Business Education and Research.
The IBIP offers select undergraduate students with high leadership potential the opportunity to work in high
performance, interdisciplinary teams analyzing and evaluating the critical
issues and challenges that managers and firm face operating in today’s global
marketplace.
The IBIP has been designed to respond to specific industry-identified needs. Today’s agribusiness and food industry firms are increasing affected by and/or operating in the global marketplace; to not only survive but thrive in this environment these firms are searching for the next generation of globally literate entrepreneurial leaders. These individuals must possess a dynamic, global and entrepreneurial skill set that will allow them to
effectively and successfully lead their future organizations through the
critical operational, economic, and political challenges they are likely to confront
in this rapidly evolving global food industry. These challenges and issues usually
extend far beyond anyone functional area or specialty. Hence, exceptional functional
knowledge must be complemented with an integrated grounding in the critical
cross-functional, cross-cultural and cross-regional issues that span
international food marketing channels.
By combining an on-campus preparatory course each spring with a focused, industry-led and faculty-facilitated international experiential study tour along the international marketing channel, the International Business Immersion Program delivers to industry an exceptional young entrepreneurial leader who can hit the real world running.
